Minimal Summer Makeup

I posted this photo in my Stories recently and received a lot of questions about which products I used, so I thought I would post a comprehensive list of all the goodness.

First of all, if you haven't gotten your hands on the Overnight Peel that I've been raving about... DO IT!  It's such a gamechanger for your skin, which means LESS MAKEUP.  And I don't know about you, but when it's scorching outside - the last thing I want to do is wear heavy makeup.  I literally keep forgetting to wear makeup because I'm so happy with how my skin looks!

On this day, I had used the PEEL two days before.  My skin was still great and I just needed minimal makeup to enhance my look.  I originally posted the photo to rave about my new BLUSH because I loved how natural it was.  And it's such a great color that you can wear with anything because it doesn't lean too far into any hue.  It was great with my bright pink dress!

Here are the goods:

Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation in Paper Thin - applied with my Beautyblender.  I love this foundation for it's beautiful finish and buildable coverage.

Beautycounter Touchup Concealer in Light - Just the right amount of coverage and not-too-matte for undereyes

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Desired Glow - The blush that goes with everything.  A little tawny/bronzey with a hint of pink.  A blush you can wear when you dress in pink ;)  I apply with my Beautyblender.

Beautycounter Eyeliner in Black - Doesn't smudge and lasts for hours.

Kjaer Weis Eyeshadow in Magnetic - Beautiful coppery, bronzey color with subtle shimmer

Honest Co Mascara + Primer - I love this mascara for the primer!  Helps my barely there lashes stand out!

MY FAVORITE NEW HIGHLIGHTER: RMS Luminizer in Champagne Rose - It's the most natural highlighter I've ever used.  Just looks like dewy skin!

Kari Gran Lip Whip in Pink Tinted - My go-to lip balm!

Innersense Pure Harmony Hairbath Shampoo + Innersense Pure Inspiration Daily Conditioner

UPDATE: **The recently-released Ilia Limitless Lash is constantly sold out. BUT it’s currently in stock at Aillea and Fig and Flower (ATL girls, select in-store pick-up online to reserve yours online and avoid paying shipping!) I have been LOVING this mascara!!

Several weeks ago, I polled my Instagram followers and asked which topics they would like me to cover in the clean world - from motherhood to beauty products.  By far, the most requested topics was clean MASCARAS!

Girl, I get it.  A good mascara is such a game-changer (especially if you have almost blonde eyelashes like me)!

I did some testing so that I could make my most-informed post for you all.  I stuck to the formulas that are the most buzzed about in the Clean Beauty world.  Here's a list of the ones that I tried:

These are all amazing companies and I chose these to try because a lot of people love each one!  So, this post is strictly my own opinion,  but I have found my very favorites and I think you will love them too!  Clean mascaras are going to be a little different from conventional mascaras because it is one product that has to really be anti-microbial (it's closest to your eyes!!) but most conventional preservatives contain parabens and other harmful ingredients.  So, the preservatives and ingredients to give staying power (you won't find any clean mascaras labeled 'waterproof') are something that these brands had to work hard to create.  Also, the carbon black that is used in conventional mascaras is potentially very harmful!  To give these mascaras extra staying power, a lot of days I use the Primer from the Honest Beauty Truly Lush Mascara + Lash Primer.  The mascara end is great, too.  It just didn't end up being my favorite.  But if you want a one + done, go for the Honest Beauty Duo!  It's great!

Without further ado, my NUMBER ONE PICK for a natural mascara:

Fitglow Beauty Vegan Goodlash +

Why I love it:  First of all, it's a multi-tasking mascara/serum/conditioner all in one.  So, it's going to help promote lash growth!  Hallelujah!  It contains vitamins and antioxidants to help lashes grow thicker and have less breakage!  I definitely have felt it's nourishing effects!  As for performance, it was the best in my opinion.  Especially when paired with my Honest Primer.  Some of the other formulas flaked or smudged for me and this one does not.  It is also the thickest formula.  I saw volume + length because I can really build with this formula.  I also really liked the brush, compared to all of the others.  I like a really bristle-y brush (hello former Diorshow addict).  I just feel like bristle-y brushes cover really well.  This one is thicker on one end and gets really tiny on the other end, so you can really work with it!

I also always curl my lashes first and I use this lash comb to separate.  I use this primer a lot with it, too!

Second runner up: 100% Pure Ultra Lengthening Mascara

This has been my #1 ever since I started using clean beauty products.  I'm so glad it stood the test against so many other favorites.  It doesn't flake or smudge.  The formula has great building power.  This is a great makeup bag staple, for sure!!  Bonus:  it smells really good from the fruit extract ingredients!!

Honorable mention:  Beautycounter Volumizing Mascara I thought this one performed really well, compared to the others!

Have you tried these?  What do you think?

** Fuller lip trick:  I almost always apply my lip color with my finger tip.  I smudge it into my lip because I don't like for my lip color to look like it's sitting on top of my lips.  If I want bolder color, I will first smudge the color into my lip as a base.  Then, I will swipe the color directly onto my lips...but I still smudge it with my finger after.  I do this as many times as I need to, in order to achieve the desired amount of pigment.  I then use a coordinating lipliner to outline the very outer edge of my lips (almost a tiny bit outside of my lips). A nude lipliner like this one is actually very versatile and can be used for many of your more neutral lip colors.  For bolder shades, it's best to find a coordinating lipliner!
