Empties and Clean Beauty Must Haves!

clean beauty must haves

It’s finally cooler here in Georgia and it has me thinking through my skin + haircare. What do I need to change up and what will I continue to use through the colder months? My empties are getting replaced because these are my tried-and-true staples. I think you should try them, too!!

The EMPTIES

  1. Innersense Pure Harmony Hairbath + Conditioner

This is the best clean shampoo and conditioner that I have ever tried. My hair doesn’t get weighed and down and I can style it like I always have with conventional shampoo + conditioner. A little goes a long way and this set has last me forever!

  2. MUN Aknari Brightening Youth Serum

My skin drinks up this wonderful serum. It’s not too oily but leaves my skin hydrated in the morning. I love that it also doubles as an eye serum. Rose oil, Prickly Pear Seed Oil, Vitamin E and Argan Oil - you are doing something right! You can always save 15% with my code ROSEWATER (and currently receive a FREE travel size of their brand new gel moisturizer with any $30 purchase)

  3. Agent Nateur Holi(stick) Sensitive Deodorant

The absolute only natural deodorant that works and doesn’t break me out. Period. I’m going to pick up one for my husband and one for myself from Aillea today!

Other MUST haves

Ok, when I started to list the MUST haves, there are so many that I want to include! Ah, so I limited myself to 6 things that I’m absolutely loving right now!

  1. Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara

My girlfriends are all obsessing over this mascara…and evidently everyone else is too! It’s been consistently sold-out, since it’s release earlier this year. Hurry and grab one!

  2. RMS Champagne Rose Luminizer

I think this may be my #1 FAVORITE thing right now. It adds the most gorgeous glow to makeup days and bare face days. It wakes me up, brightens me up, and is just the easiest to apply. I get so many compliments on my “skin” when I wear it ;)

  3. Beautycounter First Light Holiday Palette

Ok, I know I have included 2 highlighters on this list, but what can I say? This far along into my pregnancy I need all of the glow and these products are really helping me out. This Highlighter palette is beautiful, natural and again - getting me all of the compliments ;) I like to set my undereye concealer with the shade Halo for an extra AWAKE look!

  4. Beautycounter Instant Awakening Trio

Speaking of AWAKE - THIS SET. My love, the Overnight Resurfacing Peel, an Illuminating Cream and Eye Masks?! Hello, GORGEOUS, MERRY + BRIGHT!

  5. A Jade Roller

I’ve posted a lot about my love for this thing. But, my love increased when I realized that it really does work to alleviate my sinus pressure. Hello, new best friend! Oh, and the skin benefits are amazing, too ;)

  6. Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser

Do you guys know how important exfoliation is?! You’ve GOT to do it a couple of times a week. The sloughing off of old skin to rejuvenate new (YOUNGER) skin is SO important! If you don’t have an exfoliator - get this one!! It’s also a cleanser (hello, less steps), doesn’t overdry and smells like a spa. So yeah. I pair it with my Overnight Resurfacing Peel (see #4) and have the freshest skin the next am!

What are some of your Clean Beauty Must Haves??

xoxo, Lauren

Dry Skin + Scalp Savers

dry skin scalp

There's something about the change of seasons that has my skin completely out of whack!  Unfortunately, I've noticed my skin on my body is dry to the point of flaking and itching...and so is my scalp!  Yikes!

If this sounds like you, thankfully I have found some products that have been working their magic and saving my skin.  And not just helping a little, but completely restoring my skin + scalp!  Read on to see what I've been using!

exfoliation.

The first key to dry skin is exfoliation.  You have to get that dry skin off, so that your body can produce new, healthy skin!  I love an in-shower scrub, but usually they are just too oily for me.  I am so happy to have discovered the Indie Lee Coconut Citrus Scrub because it does the job without leaving me greasy.  The scrub comes as more of a solid (vs granules suspended in an oil) and that's due to the fact that Indie uses coconut oil (which solidifies when it's not heated)!  I love, love, love this stuff.  For my face, I prefer something that does not contain much oil at all.  I want mostly scrubbies so I can have fresh skin to apply my skincare.  I have been using the Acai Pulp Facial Scrub from 100% Pure and it's perfect!  It's made with Organic Acai Berries, which are naturally high in Vitamins A + C to help balance the skin.

body balm.

To restore moisture in the skin on my body, I am obsessed with the Osea Anti-Aging Body Balm.  It is pure luxury!  It's this milky elixir that just feels amazing.  I don't really detect a scent.  I LOVE it!!  It's not a lotion, and not an oil.  It's perfection!

face.

For extra hydration on my face, I love the Josh Rosebrook Advanced Hydration Mask.  You may have caught this on my Jade Roller Instagram Story!  This thing WORKS.  You can leave it on as long as you like.  The removal is waterless, so you simply remove with a cloth or cotton pad.  I like to follow with the Josh Rosebrook Vital Balm Cream for a mega boost of moisture!!

scalp.

OK, now it's time to talk about the embarrassing thing that I mentioned earlier.  DRY SCALP.  Thankfully, this issue is seasonal for me and not year-round.  When I notice the dryness at my hairline, it's Max Green Alchemy time!  This Shampoo + Conditioner really works and leaves my hair just as it found it (not drying or greasy for me)!

I hope you can find some relief!!  GOOD NEWS!!  Spring is right around the corner!

xoxo Lauren

Lip Colors to Wear Right Now

lip colors to wear right now

These are the actual lipcolors that I'm loving right now.  The not-too-holiday and the not-too-spring colors.  They look good on skin that hasn't seen the sun in months.  And super moisturizing, of course!

For me, January is about doing the things that I wanted to do around the holidays, but I was too busy!  Reading books, watching movies, squeezing into a pub booth with good friends!  January is less about events and more  about being present.  I also feel hopeful in January - the start of another year to get right, the things I was getting wrong in the past year.

For a January lipcolor, I like warm nudes or light, happy pinks that make it look like I've been out in the cold.  You also need a good red.  Because every month needs a good red.  Since we've been seeing so much red with holiday decor, I love a warmer tone that doesn't feel like a leftover holiday color.  RMS Beauty just released their Wild with Desire Lipsticks and 'Rapture' is the perfect warm red for right now.

How to apply lipcolor:

The first thing about applying lip color is to have a smooth surface on your lips and to moisturize before applying the color.  There is the PERFECT product that does both - exfoliating and moisturizing.  This is a year-round prep for your lips, but I ESPECIALLY need it in the colder months.  The Henne Organics Rose Diamonds Lip Exfoliator is a STAPLE for every makeup bag.  Get it now and thank me later.

Next, carefully and evenly apply lipcolor.  The best way to do this is with a lip brush.  I was never a believer before.  I just felt like a lip brush was 'extra' or people were trying to be too fancy.  Trust me.  It makes all of the difference for even application.  You can also skip a separate lip liner if you use one.  Although, I love lip liner.  So, if you really want a perfect lip.  Use one.  I carry a nude with me everywhere because I can drag the lip color up to the lip line with it.  It works for just about every color.  But, it's also great to have a go-to red like this one.

lip swatches

Without further ado, these are the lipcolors to wear right now.

Swatched in the photo above, from left to right:

Kosas in 'Rosewater' - a little 'rosie' in color and the perfect 'i just stepped in from the cold' look (obvi, i love the name!)

Spela in 'Flirt' -  matte pinky-nude perfection.

100% Pure Matte Lipstick in 'Pink Canyon' - a darker, pinker nude that will take you right into spring

Spela in 'Spa Day' - a pink-brown matte nude a la Kardashian

RMS in 'Rapture' - the red to wear right now.  warm and bright all at the same time.

I also love these products for lips:

Henne Lip Tint in 'Bare' - on-the-go, wear to the gym, moisturizing and so slick

100% Pure Creamy Long Last Lip Liner - pinky-nude lipliner that works with just about any lipcolor

Lip Diamonds - the must have lip exfoliator to prep your lips for color

Lip brush - for the most even application
