My Winter Skin Savers

I REALLY STRUGGLE WITH...

I really struggle with finding the right combination of moisturizers that won't weigh my skin down in the wintertime.  I feel like I have my skin in a pretty good place this season and have even left the house the past two days with no makeup on.  Here's what I've been using:

- Masking with Little Barn Apothecary Calendula + Lycopene Hydrating Mask, Mild Exfoliant.  One very important element of skincare is exfoliation.  You want to constantly slough off dry skin, so that your skin has to naturally work to rejuvenate itself and create new skin.  That's how you can look your best and brightest.  However, it's difficult for me to take any sort of grainy product to my face when it's dry - that's why I love this mask.  It mildly exfoliates to help reveal new skin, as well as hydrates.  You can leave this mask on for as long as you'd like - and I do. Even when you wash it away, there's a serum that's left on your skin- which works great under makeup or as a leave-on for part of your bedtime routine.

- Cleansing with One Love Organics Vitamin B Cleanser.  I am ALL about oil cleansing.  365. All year long.  Oil cleansers dissolve makeup, removing a step for you in the evenings.  And they leave your skin hydrated.  More oil always.  Which brings me to my next point - 6 out of 7 days a week, I don't cleanse in the am.  I like to leave whatever work my skin was doing overnight alone.  I simply add toner + moisturizer, before applying makeup.  If I do cleanse in the am, it's because my skin is parched.  In that case, I'll use the Beautycounter Cleansing Balm.  It's a miracle worker.

- Toning with Osmia Organics Active Gel Toner and Little Barn Apothecary Aloe + Rosewater Balance Mist.  If you are skipping toner - that's probably the reason why you haven't learned to love oils/serums for moisturizing.  Toners create a neutral surface for your moisturizer and makeup.  Everything goes on better with a toner.  I use the OO Active Gel Toner after cleansing at night.  The LBA (or any other natural rosewater spray like this one or this one) has multiple uses.  Which is why it's my all-time favorite beauty product.  I spray my face before applying foundation, or directly on my foundation brush with my foundation.  (You will not believe how much smoother your foundation goes on!)  I also spray my face to set my makeup (avoiding eye makeup).  On top of foundation, bronzer and brush - it just makes everything kind of sink in and gives a more natural look.  I also spray rosewater throughout the day, when I need extra hydration.  It is a MUST.

- Moisturizing with oils.  I am super obsessed with Vintner's Daughter.  The creator worked tirelessly to come up with a hero product, using all natural oils.  I can feel this product working on my face and literally notice a difference.  Worth every penny.  I love oils, but one thing I have missed since transitioning to clean beauty is creams.  Creams are rare in the clean beauty world because conventional lotions are made with so many cheap, toxic preservatives and binding agents.  I love a cream consistency in the wintertime and I use One Love Organics Skin Dew or Osmia Organics Purely Simple Face Cream.  Both of which, I mix with the magical Osmia Organics Nectar.  **Whichever moisturizers you choose, make sure you bring them down your neck to your chest!

- Don't forget the eyes and lips!  The product that has most helped my dark circles is the Maya Chia Eye Achiever.  Hands down.  It works.  For tone (fine lines and brightness), I love 100% Pure Coffee Bean Eye Cream (really inexpensive too - $15 for .3 oz).  And when my eyes just feel so dry, the Beautycounter Rejeuvenating Eye Cream.  It's like a big drink of water for my eyes!  For winter lips, my faves are Osmia Organics Lip DoctorRevive Lip Balm (inexpensive), Oy-l for bedside table and Henne Organics Lip Tint ($10 OFF) for a color option.

Happy Hydrating!
