Maternity Dresses for Fall

**All Dresses are 25% OFF through the weekend**

“Bring on Fall!!” - says every preggo girl who’s endured the summer heat!

I’ve already worn this rust colored dress so much! The color is amazing - a true ‘rust’ - and the lightweight fabric could not be more comfortable. The stretchy waist makes for an easy throw on that can be dressed up or down.

I’m still rocking my favorite beaded slides - they are a dressy neutral that will take me into boot weather!

This off-the-shoulder number is also 25% off through the weekend! Comfy and versatile, I love the flowy fabric! And the option it gives to wear sleeves!

I have it paired with my new Madewell slides!

Bump Friendly Style Guide

summer bump style

Truth time. Dressing my bump is a little more challenging this time.  I don't know my body as well because I got pregnant so quickly after having my first baby (hello extra 20 lbs).  It's a whole new territory with loving + agreeing with my body.  The obvious answer is - 'wow, my body is doing amazing things - holding and nurturing these little lives!' And I do feel that way.  I love that my body can build and grow and stretch and make a way for new life.

But, I also see a photograph and do the whole 'but I don't look like this pregnant person or that pregnant person.' Or I even will feel disappointed in my body for not being able to be more 'cute' while pregnant.  And the fear. The fear that I will forever have a poochy belly because I had my babies so close together.  When will it end?  When can we stop doing telling ourselves these things and battling our own bodies?

I have a choice.  I can spend unnecessary time shaming my body.

Or I can CELEBRATE.  I can celebrate these miracles that I prayed so long for...and feared that my body would never even have the chance to hold.  I can pray and ask God to change my perspective.  I will choose to enjoy my pregnancy.  I'll get massages this time.  I'll buy a few cute clothes that I feel pretty in.  I'll eat healthy foods that make me feel good.  I'll bake cookies if I want to.  I'll find time for prenatal yoga and take my baby on long power walks.  And I'll hold my 10 month old on my growing bump and take those moments in - for the beautiful, powerful gifts that they are.

bump friendly style guide

I have found a few items that I feel good in during my pregnancy and this summer heat.  My criteria is a little more strict this time around because I'm chasing a 10 month old.  First of all, the neckline.   If it's off-the-shoulder, I can't lift my arms to pick up my daughter.  If it's strapless, my baby will pull it down.   I can't wear a something too long because I will step on the bottom and trip if I'm holding my baby.  It can't be too short either - wayyy too much bending over these days!  And the fit just depends on my mood - somedays I want fitted and somedays, flowy.

Outfit ideas:

I love this flowy dress (I'm wearing it in these photos and it's less than $30) that looks great with my rose Birks and new hat ($35).  It's about ankle-length on my 5'3" stature, so no tripping!

This fitted black dress can be dressed up or down.  I love it alone, or with my new Kimono if I want to cover my booty ;)  These wrap sandals are so cute and affordable!

Easy, pretty pink t-shirt dress.  Best for 1st + 2nd trimester.  It's the happiest pink and I feel put together because it has a little shape.  Perfect with my rose Birks.

I got my Bump Body dress during my last pregnancy.  It is so well designed - comfortable and flattering.  It's a go-to for sure!  Cute with a hat and dainty jewelry.

Madewell Maternity Jeans. One of the reviews of these jeans said that she had tried all of the maternity jeans and these were the best! ha! I heard that they were great, but that review sold me.  And I agree - I didn't try really any others on (nor did I want to - because let's face it, being pregnant and trying on bad jeans is a terrible combo) but I LOVE these.  So flattering and comfy.   Ingrid & Isabel Maternity leggings live up to the hype!  They are comfortable, somehow really flattering and they stay up!  I got them during my last pregnancy and they are still my fave!  Gap Maternity Denim Shorts have the best length, wash and fit of any that I've tried.

I bought a Hatch Maternity Dress on eBay.  I love their minimal styles but can't personally justify the price tag.  Here's a few eBay options:  pretty red dress, baby blue dress, gorgeous black strapless I splurged on these Tory Burch flats because I can't wear heels right now but still wanted to wear some pretty shoes.  OBSESSED.  Here's another shoe option that I love!

For swim, I like classic black!  Some days, I feel comfortable in a bikini and other days, a tankini.  I have never found a one-piece that's comfortable for me (especially pregnant).  I think one pieces are so cute, but so far I haven't had any luck!

Undies. You guys, never before have comfy undies been such a priority.  Bras are so uncomfortable.  Especially my strapless ones...unless I want to wear the bandeaus that the maternity sites sell...and feel like I'm in middle school again.  The wireless strapless bra from Lively is such a gamechanger. (Get $10 off with my code AMB-therosewateredit )  I also love this padded bralette and this maternity/nursing braThese panties are just like Hanky Panky (for much less!) and these are my absolute favorite - no lines and super comfy!

My wish list: this gorgeous Free People dress, a backpack purse (less expensive version here), ummm this peach dress, this suede jacket for travel and transitioning to fall

I'm also really loving accessories.  Now I understand why moms wear hats.  You didn't have time to wash your hair, but you still want to look put together.  And dainty jewelry - something not too heavy when you feel heavy but just a little sparkle!

Valentine's Day Gift Guide

valentine's gift guide

My absolute top favorite pick for a Valentine's gift this year is the Goop Fragrance Eau de Parfum: Edition 02.  If you don't already know, traditional fragrances are one of the most toxic things you can put on your body.  Before going green, I loved my Tocca Fragrance from Anthropologie (which rates a 9 on Think Dirty App, with 10 being the worst).  I am so happy that I found this Goop Fragrance.  The best thing about a fragrance that is made from natural oils is not only does it smell amazing, but it also has aromatherapeutic qualities - so it makes you FEEL good too.  Once you wear a fragrance like this one, you literally will never be able to go back to synthetic fragrances.  I get compliments everywhere I go.  My husband LOVES it.  I think it is my favorite thing right now and would absolutely make the perfect Valentine's Day gift (to you or for yourself)!

Oskia Rose De Mai Massage, Body Oil & Treatment Candle.  A candle that melts down to a body oil and massage oil?  Need I say more?

Ok, this Cote Traveler Manicure Set is seriously cute.  It comes with two nail colors (free of major toxins),  a base and top coat, 2 non-acteone remover pads, a file and a cute travel pouch.  The perfect Galentine's Day gift!

I think Vday is the perfect excuse to finally get the Henne Rose Diamonds Lip Polish.  For the softest, moisturized lips so you can smooch your sweetie!

My friend, Megan, has these Gorjana Tassel Earrings and they are the prettiest, most classic tassels.  Great quality with the gold piece and the prettiest neutral, dark blush.  On sale for just $39!

Can we talk about how pj's and loungewear are like the last thing I want to spend my money on.  But I always wish I had cuter things to wear around the house.  I think some cutesy pj's would be such a fun treat for Vday!  I like these, these and these.  This romper is too cute!

Valentine's Day 2018 - What to Wear

Valentine's Day is just a few weeks away!  I have always thought it was a cute little holiday.  No matter who your plans are with, there's likely an excuse to get dressed up...and definitely an excuse to have dessert.  (Chocolate covered anything, am i right?!)

Jonathan and I have never been ones to make a huge deal about the holiday.  At some point that week, however, there will be a dinner reservation (hopefully at St. Cecilia or Sotto Sotto) and a sweet note to each other.  I've thought about surprising Jonathan and Chapel with a couple of cute decorations when they wake up (like this LOVE balloon) and a fun themey breakfast (paleo donuts, perhaps?).  I'm thinking it's the perfect excuse to order these breakfast trays that I've been eyeing and how cute would this mug be to have coffee in that morning?

Click on the photos below for some cute dresses + rompers for the occasion!  Of course, I had to throw in a clean lipstick and less-toxic nail polish recommendation!

I have also chosen some red hues that would be so cute paired with a leather jacket (like this, this or this) until Spring arrives!  Click on the photos below for some red inspo, including a lip and nail color!

If you are looking for some great junky candy alternatives, try these or these out for the kids' classroom (they are truly yummy!).  For your adult sweet tooth, try Cocomels or making Gwyneth Paltrow's Chocolate Truffles (so easy and delicious)!

Non-toxic Cold Weather Rescues

As a native Southerner, I do not consider myself an expert on the topic of cold weather care at all.  However, it seems that we are getting just as much of the freezing temps as other parts of the country this year.  And with a new baby, I have more than just my own dry, cracked hands to worry about.  For this post, I am listing a few tried and true cold weather products for mom + baby.  Atlanta is seeing some cooler temps and will likely get another snow, so I am thinking ahead for those wintry days!

Baby Cold Weather Care

Erbaviva Baby Cream - Chapel's skin on her face has been dry lately and this has worked great for her dry cheeks!

Honest Diaper Rash Cream - My baby girl has not suffered too much from diaper rash, but when I see a little pink - this diaper cream clears it up immediately!

Beautycounter Baby Oil- This is what I slather all over my baby girl's body after bath time.  She LOVES it!  I think she feels like she's getting a little baby massage!  The only ingredients are sunflower oil, jojoba oil, vitamin e, and coconut oil!

Beautycounter Protective Balm - I use this balm on any of her tiny little scratches, like from her finger nails.  (Anyone have advice for cutting baby finger nails??  Nothing gives me more anxiety that trying to clip those miniature nails!)  This balm clears her little scratches so quickly!

Baby Cold Weather Gear

Click on the photos for our favorite cold/snow suits for baby!

MY Cold Weather Essentials

It sounds counter-intuitive, but the best thing you can do for your skin is a body scrub like Indie Lee's Coconut Citrus Scrub!  The scrub will slough off dry, dead skin and moisturize your fresh skin with yummy oils.  It is seriously a game-changer and a MUST.

Indie Lee Body Oil - All over moisture without feeling greasy!

Oy-l Manuka Latte Lip Balm - It's so sleek on and super moisturizing!  My go-to for my lips right now!

You also need a good face oil and my current faves are Osmia Organics Nectar Vital Rose Drops, Vintner's Daughter and One Love Organics Vitamin C Brightening Serum.

If face cream is your thing, I love Osmia Organics Purely Simple, One Love Organics Coconut Dew and Indie Lee Squalane Facial Cream.

Stay warm!  And moisturized ;)

New Years Eve Style + Beauty

New Years Eve is one of my favorite days of the year.  There is something so special about the reflection that day brings, followed by toasting a new beginning.  I have so many distinct memories from past New Years Eves.  My favorite being the NYE that my husband proposed to me!

Last NYE, was marked with a little sadness, as it was our 10 month of trying for a baby.  My husband remained hopeful, but I was definitely disappointed to leave 2016 behind without any sign of the baby that I wanted so badly.  Some years, I have a word or a theme for the upcoming years. For 2017, I knew for certain that my word was 'hope.'  We received the news that we were pregnant in early 2017 and my word took on a new meaning.  I had to learn to have hope in so many things that were new territory for me and I trusted God in the things that were so clearly out of my control.

Because I love NYE so much, I always get a new outfit to celebrate!  I like to ring in the new year with a little sparkle!  We never 'go out' for NYE.  For the past 5 years, we have spent it at our family's farm - Sugarboo Farms.  We spend a few days there with friends and for NYE, we have a catered dinner and dancing.  Last year, I wore a rosegold sparkle dress from Zara and I found an excellent dupe this year!  Here's a few other sparkly options (click on the photos to shop!):

This year will be a little more lowkey, so I am going to opt for a sparkly top (rosegold again, I can't help myself!!).  I will pair it with this denim and these shoes.  Here are sparkly options that I love that would be a great alternative to a dress (click photos to shop!):

I just ordered this faux fur stole to keep warm at 50% OFF!!  Here's some other accessories I'm loving (click on photo to shop!):

I can't leave you without a little beauty inspo!  For a festive glow, I love this, this or this.  These lashes are a MUST.  And for a bright lip, I love this in Blooming.  For a nude lip, I love this in Pink Canyon!

I hope your NYE sparkles and shines!

Garden and Gun Jubilee

garden and gun jubilee fur vest

My Dress, my vest (size petite xs), my boots // Chapel's vest and bow

I had my sights set on attending this year's Garden and Gun Jubilee after seeing posts of the event on social media last year.  We bought our tickets as soon as they went on sale this summer, thinking that it would be our first trip with baby girl.  (Little did we know, that she would have visited Chattanooga TN, Athens GA and Highlands NC already!)  Not only did we want to attend the Jubilee, but we also look for any excuse to visit Charleston, SC - so, why not?!

family baby charleston

We packed our bags and drove to Charleston for the weekend.  We had the best time!  The Jubilee was held outdoors at Charles Towne Landing and the weather could not have been better.  There were so many amazing vendors and live music.  We will definitely go back next year!

garden and gun jubilee charleston

We love you, Charleston!  And events like G +G Jubilee make us love you even more!

A couple of our favorite spots that are a must for your next visit to Charleston:

Black Tap Coffee (3 times!) - where I had a latte sweetened with sweet potatoes!

The Park Cafe- delicious brunch, cutest atmosphere and we were seated immediately!

Holiday Event Look

I received a lot of questions about THIS DRESS that I posted on my Instastories over the weekend.  I absolutely loved everything about this dress – the design was super flattering and the color was perfect for the season!  My dress was in the color ‘pine’ (a dark green) and it’s available in 3 other colors here.  I do recommend sizing up- I had to size up two sizes, from my regular size small to a size large.

I wore the dress to a ‘Black Tie Optional’ wedding in Athens, Georgia.  I really debated how dressed up everyone would be and I was pleasantly surprised to find that most of the guests were dressed in Black Tie Attire.  My dress was perfect – the tea-length cut was not too long and not too short.  The hem kicked up when I walked and even twirled when I danced!  I will never say ‘no’ to a dress with twirl!  I paired the dress with these heelsthis clutch, and similar earrings.  I also love this dressthis velvet dress, and this jumpsuit for holiday events!

How cute was the Best Man and our sweet baby (baby only made a brief appearance at the reception for pictures and hugs)?!  Chapel’s dress is a vintage find, but this and this are great options!  Her bracelets are June + Penny and her bow is from Kait and Kids.

My Makeup Look:

Primer:  Honest Co Everything Primer

Foundation:  100% Pure BB Cream in Aglow

Blush and Highlighter:  100% Pure Pretty Naked II Palette

Eyeshadow: Lily Lolo Pure Indulgence Palette

Mascara:  100% Pure Black Tea

Lips: 100% Pure Cocoa Butter Matte Lipstick in Pink Canyon

In case you were wondering, I wore this skirt in navythis top in navy, these earringssimilar shoes and similar jacket to the rehearsal dinner at LRG Provisions!

Happy Holiday Dressing!

My Favorite Maternity Dress

I obsessed with this dress.  It is a MUST for any expecting mama!  Let’s be honest – maternity fashion is a struggle.  It’s hard to find things that look good and feel comfortable.  I receive so many compliments every time I wear this dress and I’m excited to offer my followers 20% OFF!!!  Use code ROSEWATER when you purchase your Bump Body Dress.  They also offer FREE SHIPPING AND RETURNS, making this closet staple less than $50!!

I love this dress because it is lightweight- so many other maternity dresses have thick fabric, making this mama extra hot in them!  I also like that it has a high neck and I can wear a regular bra with it.  It’s super flattering – like I said, I get tons of compliments. With just 5 weeks to go, I can use all the shape and comfort I can get!

I think I am going to order it in another color, I love it so much!

Spring Dresses

Well, here in Atlanta – we thought we were all happy as could be with our Spring weather in February.  As tradition would have it, the March ‘cold snap’ turned out to be bitter cold and now our blooming flowers aren’t sure how to behave.  Thankfully, the infamous Atlanta dogwoods have opened up, we have dined al fresco most nights and I finally feel secure enough with the warmth to throw on some florals.  Spring is here! These are some of the cuties that I have picked up lately and I just had to share!

I found the striped dress at Target!  It doesn’t seem to be online, so I hope you have as much luck at your store as I did!  Here’s another option in all black.

The floral dress in the middle that I am so obsessed with is by Roberta Roller Rabbit. This is a new-to-me brand – but it’s also a new fave!  I also love this onethis one, and these pj’s!

The white tribal maxi is another Target find.  I purchased it online, so I’m not sure if you will find it in stores! This brand at Target has tons of cute options online like these:  white dressprinted maxiombre peasant dress.

If I find some more goodies, I’ll be sure to share soon!

Winter Wonderland

This past weekend, my side of the family all congregated in Asheville, North Carolina for a weekend reunion.  Most family drove from South Carolina, one brother + his girlfriend flew in from Denver and of course, we drove from Atlanta.  It was actually a belated ‘Christmas’ get together, because the timing just worked better for everyone.  We also had a mini celebration for my Mom’s Birthday (which is actually today), so that was special to have everyone together to celebrate her!

The weekend turned out to be eventful – the Denver crew had delayed flights, a surprise snow storm that made getting around surprisingly difficult, and a couple of other hiccups.  Ultimately, we are so happy that we all had the chance to be together because that does not happen every year.  So, we chalk it up as a ‘win’ and literally + figuratively braved the storm.  It was certainly a memorable trip!

For my Winter Wonderland attire, I stayed warm thanks to my new Patagonia jacket.  I typically stick to neutrals with outerwear, but this ‘Drumfire Red’ color was just muted enough to make it feel like I could wear it with anything!  There’s also something about Patagonia that is so flattering, that I always think people look put together when they are wearing that brand.  I will love this jacket for years to come – especially because it was a Christmas gift from Jonathan!

I would not have stayed dry without my Hunter Boots – there’s a reason why these things have become a classic.  They are just so good.  Speaking of classics, I don’t leave the house without my all black Ray Bans.

My accessories are oldies, but goodies and I have linked similar ones here:  blanket scarf (originally Forever 21), blush beanie (originally Forever 21), Coach leather gloves (mine are old).

Stay warm out there!  Atlanta is supposed to get back into the 70’s by Friday, so I will be shedding these layers by the weekend!

What to Wear to Fall Events

I absolutely love fall weddings and seasonal events.  There’s something about the chill in the air that makes everything just a little more exciting.

I have, however, found myself stumped when it comes to dressing for these events.  Most of what I find is a little over-the-top seasonal and the last thing I want to do is show up to the event looking like a gift-wrapped present.

When I found this dress, I knew I found the perfect fall event attire.  Elegant and romantic, meets low-key and easy.  My favorite combo.  I never like for my outfits to be too fussy and this dress was just an easy ‘yes.’

Coffee Date

Coffee dates are one of my favorite things.  When my husband asked what I wanted to do in Nashville this coming weekend, I said ‘get coffee.’ Exploring coffee shops has become a ‘must’ for us when we travel! I love that undivided time together and the fact that coffee shops are designed for you to linger.

I also love to meet friends for coffee dates.  It is an inexpensive way to spend time together + catch up – and we almost always end up running into other friends at our favorite spots in Atlanta.

I have friends that have met their husbands on coffee dates.  Whether it is a blind date or a set up, coffee is an low-pressure first meeting.  You can make it a quick meeting – or if it is going well, like I said – coffee shops are made for lingering.  One issue that my friends always run into is ‘what to wear?’  I love an effortless look for a coffee date and a throw-on dress is perfectly fitting.

Octane Coffee in Grant Park (Atlanta) is one of my favorites!  For this coffee date, I chose an olive green dolman sleeve dress, minimalist jewelry and soft + pretty makeup/hair.  See the details below:

Dress: Dolman Sleeved Shift Dress

Necklace: My Christmas gift from Jonathan last year!  Rose gold + diamond necklace from Jewelry Artisans

BB Cream in Aglow

Palette for eyes, cheeks and highlighter

Mascara in Extreme Black

Lipshine in Honest

Hair:  I use a one-inch barrel curling iron, curling away from my face.  I curl into tight ringlets and let them cool while I finish getting ready.  The last thing I do is brush out my curls, so they turn into soft waves.

Bag: Madewell tote

This Journey

There is a lot of packing going on at my house right now.  Packing for a wedding weekend in Athens, Georgia.  Packing for vacation next week.  Packing up our house, so we can move 3 days after vacation.  Phew!  You won’t hear me complaining though, because these are all GOOD things …but oh, how quickly I can forget that when certain aspects are trying!

One of my favorite quotes is something Sandra Bullock once said – she is talking about all of the hard moments in life.  She says ‘And in between those moments- you savor, savor, savor.’

I love that and I always try to remind myself to savor and be present.  When I actually stop to consider more than what’s directly in front of me, that’s when I find gratitude and beauty.

My companions that will most certainly be re-packed along my next few stops are these necessities from One Love Organics.  As if the blush packaging and name itself weren’t enough reasons for me to love this brand – we are also neighbors!  You guys, One Love is located in Georgia!  That makes my heart beat a little faster!  They are living the good life in the beautiful + quaint beach town of St. Simon’s Island and I couldn’t love them more.  Easy Does It Cleanser is my every day face cleanser.  It is incredibly gentle and doesn’t leave my face dry.  It also suds slightly and I feel like it removes everything my makeup remover left behind.  I love it.  A tiny bit, lathered on my face morning and night.

Both of the products shown here are travel size.  I am always a big fan of travel size.  Besides the obvious reason (easy to transport), it provides a great way to try out new products.  I especially wanted to start small with the Skin Savior Multi-Tasking Wonder Balm.  I just wasn’t sure what to think about a ‘balm.’  I didn’t know if I needed it.  What exactly is it for?  Well, that’s kind of the point.  It’s for everything.  And it really is a wonder.  I put this balm just about everywhere.  Namely,  I use it for extra dry patches on my face and body.  It’s super glowy; it kind of melts into an oil-like consistency when you apply it.  Which is very different from what I expected- I thought it was going to be like applying lip balm everywhere. But it’s not.  It’s great for dry hands + cuticles and I also put it on my lips at night.  The small size is perfect for travel because you never know how your skin will react when traveling.

This Sugarboo Designs Canvas Bag is always in my handbag.  I keep my makeup in it, but it’s also a great reminder of who I am.  I want to find beauty and cultivate beauty where I can in life.

Ok, back to packing!  And savoring!

xoxo, Lauren

Summer Glow

As I am clinging more and more to my SPF (about time!), I really rely on getting my suntan from a bottle.  Of course, I love spending countless hours by a pool or on the shore – and soaking up that Vitamin D.  I am SUCH a summer girl.  The hotter, the better.  But, it’s simply not worth the cost of my skin.  You will learn that skin is a huge focus for my routine and while lobster-red is never a good look, it’s more important to care for the health of your largest organ!

Enter sunless tanner.

I apply True Natural Tropical Self Tan every few days and it is on par with all of the conventional tanners.  Its scent ranks far better than most others and is very light.  I also opt for the Dark shade, as I am impatient with my tanner and I do not want to have to apply it too often!  I have fairly light skin and it is not too intense.

I typically apply my tanner in the morning, after a shower.  I do not like to apply it too close to bedtime, as there’s an increased risk of streaking on your body and staining your bedding.  I apply the tanner after drying off from my shower and let it dry at least 20 minutes before getting dressed.  I haven’t had an issue with staining my clothes, but I will be more careful on days that I feel I might perspire.

I also love sunless tanner on my face.  I feel like it evens out my skin tone and I am much more likely to leave the house with less makeup on..or no makeup at all!

Happy Safe Sunning!
